We’d like to share with you a little on how MoodBase started.

We’ll it started by Eran finding Oren via LinkedIn and setting a meeting in a local coffee place. Eran had an idea for a startup company in the space of advertising and emotions. We brought in Roee and worked on a pilot with a large publisher. As part of the pilot we developed code to analyze web pages based on its comments. After a few weeks of work the coding was done and we successfully categorized content from the web portal to basic moods such as funny. The BizDev never went through, but we noticed that we spent hours looking at the results and checking out the pages we classified. It was then when we realized that we have developed something great and that we should share this with web surfers like you. We have been working hard in past year to put up our site with the goal to let others enjoy the mood based discovery experience we are so passionate about.

We, the people behind MoodBase, check out the latest stuff on the site daily (typically 3 times a day – more or less like meals . Our mission is to get more and more people like you addicted to this fun content consumption habit. So, if you love our site: please register to the site, subscribe to our content feeds (e.g. by RSS or twitter) and join the growing community. Please drop us a note if you are interested in helping with moderation and administration of our site, moods and channels.

We recently launched our new website and are very proud of it and hope you all enjoy it as much as we do. And with the launch of our new site, we’re kicking off the official MoodBase blog.

We promise to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening with the site, our services, the company, the industry, and our community. Occasionally we’ll share some things we’ve learned from you all – like how you’re using our site, feedback you’ve given us, and interesting services you’re looking for. We’ll also periodically share with you juicy stories from behind the scenes and technical details from under the hood. Be sure to sign up to receive the latest blog updates!

We’ll also try to post every once in a while personal posts with interesting content we caught in our MoodBase net.

For the next few weeks, our focus will be entirely on perfecting the user experiance on our site – as we noted, we just released the new site so please bare with us till we settle in. MoodBase’s goal is simple: to bring you great content from across the web categorized by mood. We focus on the talk around the content and the mood it elicits rather than the content per se and by that we distill for you great content from the abundance available found on the web. Thus making your life simpler and more enjoyable!

And as players in the social web space – we’d love to hear from you. Please do share your voice with us. This is extremely important for a young and emerging company!
